cab和taxi有什么区别

cab是非常的口语化,而taxi比较正式.
比如我们在这边打车（国外的出租车一般比较少,很多时候需要打电话叫车）都会说 May I call a cab to XXX place.很少有人会用taxi,就好像国内都说“我打的去XX地方”而很少说“我坐出租车去XX地方”一样.就是这样的差别.

1. cab一般有两个意思,一是指出租车,一是指一些车如卡车前坐人的驾驶仓.而taxi就只有出租车的意思。

2. cab是cabriolet的简写，即出租车前身，一种light, horse-drawn carriage which replaced the heavier hackney carriage in the 19th century as the vehicle for hire of choice in Paris and London, and were the forerunners of modern taxicabs. 
   
   cabriolets在20世纪时，被taxicab取代了。taxicab是taxi(即meter) + cab(riolet)的合成词。
   

taxi英国人说的多，cab美国人说得多。
